About this event

Kilmegan VC No Hills No Thrills Sportive is one of the most picturesque sportives that Co Down has to offer.
The Mourne Mountain Rescue Team will lead the cavalcade out through Castlewellan Main Street and on out towards the village of Lietroim. From here on it will be a gradual climb up to the Lighthouse Road were you will be greeted with some of the most picturesque scenery, looking towards the Mourne Mountains.
From here it’s on into Ballyroney before making our way towards Hilltown once through this market town we go towards the village of Bryansford before we climb up the notorious Fofanny Road.
On ascending the summit you will be greeted with our surprise before descending with blistering speed towards the fuel stop which will be in Bryansford.
Once refuelled it’s time to decide if it’s going to be 80 k or 50 k. If you choose the 80k, then a steady climb is required along Country Roads from Maghera through to Drumaroard and along the Ballywill Road. It's all up until the top of the rib, from here the scenery is breathtaking.
Once you have reached this it’s all down hill through the valleys and glens of Lietroim before returning to Castlewellan GAC were you will be greeted with a banquet and refreshments.
This is one sportive not to be missed and it’s for a great cause: the MOURNE MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM.
