About this event
The cycle event was started in 2017 by father-of-three and international rugby star, Ruan Pienaar, who is passionate about playing his part to protect the world’s most vulnerable. Determined to help 2,500 children at risk, his vision was to cycle 90km to raise £90,000. So far, the Cycle for Freedom has raised £36,000, helping to protect up to 1,000 children and we continue to chase down Ruan’s target.
The 90km begins in Portstewart, heads out along the coast to Ballycastle and then turns inland through the countryside returning to Portstewart. We have also introduced a shorter 50km cycle route to allow less experienced cyclists to take part.
For more information please go to www.tearfund.org/cycleforfreedom. People can sign up through the webpage and choose to make a donation for participating or to fundraise a larger amount if they are passionate about protecting children. Every £36.00 raised this year could protect another child at risk.
