On Road Training
Cycling training is an excellent way for cyclists to build confidence or meet National Standards. Currently there is only one organisation in Northern Ireland that provides on road cycling training:

- On-road cycle training to National Standards levels 1, 2 and 3.
- Route planning and short accompanied cycle tours
- Cycle maintenance courses

Cycling for Health Scheme
The Southern Health and Social Care Trust are offering cycle training for people in this area to become cycle leaders to National Standard Level 2 so that they can lead Cycling for Health groups within their local community or on behalf of their own group/organisation.
On completion of the course applicants are expected to:
- Deliver a programme of health cycles within 4-6 weeks of the training
- Work with the Southern area physical activity co-ordinator & local cycle co-ordinator to plan health cycles
- Adhere to the procedures of the Cycle for Health scheme
Training Schedule:
- Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th May 2010, Portadown Health Centre Conference Room, from 9.30am - 4pm.
- Thursday 3rd & Friday 4th June 2010, Loughgall Country Park, from 9.30am - 4pm.
- Saturday 11th & Saturday 18th September, Committee Room Cascades Leisure Centre, from 9.30am - 4pm.
- Monday 13th & Tuesday 14th September, Win Business Centre Conference Room Newry, from 9.30am - 4pm.
Applicants: • Must be over 18 years old and of good health • Should be confident cyclists • Should have good communications skills and confidence to work with groups • Should have an interest in promoting cycling with their community/group/workplace/clients

They teach cycling safety commonly known as Bikeability all over the North west of Ireland and Northern Ireland and are qualified instructors to the new British Standards.
